SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY, the
day we take a collection for the Community Kitchen,
was held the weekend of January 26th/27th.
Another wonderful success, thanks to both the Youth Group and St. Mary's
parishioners!! This year instead of Youth Group members standing at
the doors after every mass with coffee cans they brought kitchen pots to use
for the collection. Our goal was to fill our kitchen ("soup") pots
with money and that we did. We are happy to report that we will be
giving the Community Kitchen $460.88.
CHOCOLATE ROSES SALE - was another success! In honor of St. Valentine's Day we sold chocolate roses after all the Masses the weekends of February 2nd/3rd and February 9th/10th. Well, we had planned on selling after all the Masses on February 10th but we sold out by February 9th's Saturday Mass! Thanks to all of the parishioners who continually support the Youth Group. COMMUNITY KITCHEN - February 20th. What a wonderful experience for everyone! We served dinner for the people at the kitchen and helped clean up. Our plan is to do this again on March 19th. We participated in the REGIONAL YOUTH MASS at St. Patrick's Church on Sunday, February 24th by taking up the offertory gifts (thanks, Jim, John and Sean) and taking up the collection (thanks, Molly, Emily and Justin). It was a beautiful Mass, bringing together all the Youth Groups in Elmira and Horseheads. We sold SHAMROCK COOKIES after all the Masses the weekend of March 15th/16th to help defray costs for our end-of-season blowout, festival prizes and summer cook-out. Theresa LaDouce offered to donate all materials needed and her time to bake around 200 cookies for the Youth Group to sell. The Youth Group met at the Marian Center and frosted the cookies. It was a success -- there were less than 10 cookies left to sell after 10:30 am Mass!
We had a fantastic time at our
End-of-Season Blow-out on Saturday, March 29th, at the rectory.
Pizza, wings, TONS of junk food, a few games of UNO, and alot of laughter!!

| UPCOMING EVENTS: | |
|
We hope to participate in the Community Kitchen events
over the summer. We are definitely going to participate in this year's
Parish Festival on July 18th and19th. We're thinking of a ring toss
game. We discussed our annual cook-out and decided to keep up the tradition this year, though it will probably be in August rather than July. Youth Group members have agreed to talk at church inviting all Youth in High School to attend, if Father Rick says it's "ok" to do it.
